Fragrance Engine

Terms of Service

Effective date: April 29, 2026

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using matelier (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

matelier helps fragrance collectors decide what to wear by scoring the fragrances on their personal shelf against weather and context. Catalog content, scoring outputs, and explanations are provided for informational and personal use only.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to (a) reverse engineer the Service except to the extent permitted by applicable law, (b) scrape or republish catalog data in bulk, (c) use the Service to harass other users, or (d) attempt to disrupt or compromise the Service’s availability, integrity, or security.

5. User content

You retain ownership of content you submit (shelf items, ratings, reviews, layering recipes, formulas). By submitting content you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and process that content for the purpose of operating the Service. Public-profile content is additionally licensed for display to other users when you opt in.

6. Third-party content

The Service references fragrances, brands, perfumers, and notes for editorial and decision-support purposes. All trademarks, artwork, and brand names belong to their respective owners. We do not claim affiliation with or endorsement by any brand referenced in the catalog.

7. Subscriptions and billing

Some features may require a paid subscription processed through our payment provider. Subscription fees, renewal terms, and cancellation rights will be presented at checkout and are governed by the payment provider’s terms in addition to these Terms.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Recommendations are advisory. We do not guarantee that any fragrance will be appropriate for a particular event, allergy profile, or weather condition.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall the Service’s operators be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and may request account deletion. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or to comply with legal obligations.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced through the Service. Continued use after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service’s operator is established, without regard to conflict of laws principles.

13. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent through the contact channel listed on the support page.
